Civic Plumbing is a licensed Sydney team offering 24/7 emergency support. In Pyrmont, we usually respond quickly to handle blocked drainage, burst pipes and hot water faults across converted warehouses, heritage terraces and high-rise towers.

Pyrmont is a small peninsula with a split personality: converted wool stores and warehouses sitting beside heritage terraces, all a short walk from new-build apartment towers overlooking Darling Harbour. Each of those building types comes with its own plumbing quirks, and getting it wrong on a heritage retrofit or a shared high-rise riser is a different job to getting it wrong in a standard suburban home. That’s why Pyrmont needs plumbing services built around its unique mix of properties, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
Civic Plumbing has worked across Pyrmont’s mix of old and new for years, so we know what to expect before we even open the roof access panel or plant room door. If you’re after a plumber Pyrmont locals and building managers actually trust, our licensed team is available around the clock.

Civic Plumbing knows Pyrmont and the complexity of its pipe network. Drain problems are the core of our service as licensed plumbers, and we treat every job with the care that mix of old and new infrastructure demands.

Noticed a damp patch on the wall or ceiling, or water where it shouldn’t be? That’s usually a sign of a hidden pipe leak, and you don’t need to rip up floors to find it. We use listening equipment and thermal cameras to find the leak first, then shut off the water to stop it getting worse.

Running a café, bar, or restaurant means your kitchen can’t afford to stop. If a gas appliance or line is playing up, we get it sorted quickly and safely. We install and repair kitchen cooktops and hot water systems to Australian gas standards, test everything for leaks, and give you the paperwork on the spot so you’re not stuck waiting to reopen.

No hot water, or not enough of it? We’ll find out why, whether it’s a single tank, an instant system, or one unit shared across a whole building. If your system’s old or just can’t keep up with demand, we’ll help you pick a replacement that actually suits how much hot water your home or building needs.

Got a cracked or collapsing pipe, but not keen on digging up the garden or driveway to fix it? Pipe relining fits a new pipe inside the old one, so we can repair it from the inside without excavation. It’s a quicker, less disruptive fix for older pipework that’s cracked, root-affected, or simply worn out.

A toilet that won’t stop running, keeps blocking, or wobbles when you sit down is usually a quick fix, not a full replacement. We sort out cisterns, valves, seals, and blockages on the spot, and if a toilet really has reached the end of its life, we’ll let you know honestly instead of patching it up for the sake of it.

Living in an apartment or managing a building means plumbing can’t just be fixed as problems pop up. We work with building managers and owners corporations on regular check-ups, yearly backflow testing, and fast callouts when something goes wrong.

Hearing water running when all the taps are off, or noticed your water bill creeping up for no clear reason? It could point to a hidden leak somewhere in the pipework. Faulty joints or corrosion may be behind it. Whatever the cause, our plumbers can locate the leak and carry out the necessary repairs.

Renovating a kitchen or bathroom means moving taps, drains, and pipework to fit the new layout, and getting that wrong causes headaches long after the tiles go down. We handle the full plumbing side of your renovation, from rough-in through to final fit-off, so everything’s in the right place and works properly from day one.

It can. Original brick, timber, and cast-iron elements mean we can’t always assume a standard access point, so we lean more heavily on CCTV inspection before starting work. It doesn’t usually take longer, it just means we plan the approach more carefully before we start.
Yes, but it needs to be handled correctly. Some structural elements are protected and can’t be altered without approval, so we work around the original fabric of the building wherever possible and flag anything that would need a heritage consideration before we proceed.
Once we’re on site, isolating the affected riser usually only takes minutes. We coordinate lift access and building entry with management ahead of time where possible, so the response itself isn’t held up once we’re through the door.
It depends on where the blockage is. Anything inside your own unit is generally your responsibility, while a blockage in a shared stack or common-property line is usually the owners corporation’s. A CCTV inspection settles it either way.
Yes. Backflow prevention devices need certified testing annually under Sydney Water requirements, and gas installations need to meet NSW Fair Trading standards. We handle the testing and lodge the required paperwork directly.
In buildings with centralised hot water plants, evening demand across multiple units can outstrip an undersized system. We can assess whether the issue is pressure-related or a sign the system needs resizing for how the building actually uses hot water.

Pyrmont takes its name from Bad Pyrmont in Germany, after a mineral spring found in the area. Long before that, the local Eora people knew it as “Pirrama,” a name still preserved today in Pirrama Road.
2
From 1853, quarries with names like Paradise, Purgatory and Hell Hole cut sandstone from Pyrmont for many of Sydney’s grandest buildings. The suburb’s shipping wharves, shipbuilding yards and the CSR sugar refinery also made it a major industrial hub by 1900.
3
Pyrmont was home to around 30,000 people at its industrial peak, but post-war decline saw that number crash to just 1,800 by 1978 and roughly 900 by 1990. Government-led redevelopment from 1992 turned things around, with the population climbing back to 13,000 residents by 2004.
4
Today Pyrmont is home to around 12,600 residents, with 93.7 per cent living in flats or apartments. It’s one of the most densely populated suburbs in the country, wedged between Darling Harbour and Blackwattle Bay.

Pyrmont hosts The Star casino, the Sydney Fish Market and the historic Pyrmont Bridge, a pedestrian swing bridge across Darling Harbour. It’s also the corporate home of Network 10, Nova 96.9 and Smooth 95.3, alongside Accenture Australia’s headquarters.
