Civic Plumbing has worked on St Peters’ cottages, renovations, and industrial sites long enough to know what that ground and that plumbing usually means before we start digging. If you need a plumber St Peters residents and local businesses can count on, our licensed team is on call day and night.

St Peters grew up around its clay deposits. From the 1870s the suburb was Sydney’s brickmaking centre, and the pits dug to feed that industry were later filled in and built over, including the land that’s now Sydney Park.
On top of that, St Peters is a genuine mix of property types: narrow-block workers’ cottages from the brickworks era, renovated and extended homes, and a light industrial and warehouse strip along the Princes Highway that’s still active today.
As a trusted name for plumbing services from Redfern, Sydney, we’re based on Turner Street, just a short run down the Princes Highway and around 10 minutes from St Peters. That local base means a fast callout when it counts, and every one of our vehicles is fully stocked with the gear needed to handle emergency plumbing repairs on the spot, burst pipes included, without a trip back to the depot first.

Hidden leaks can show up as damp patches, unexplained water bills or soft ground around your property. We use professional leak detection equipment to pinpoint the source before carrying out targeted repairs, helping avoid unnecessary digging or damage.

Blocked toilets, leaking pipes or failed plumbing can interrupt your business and create problems for staff and customers. We’ve built our commercial plumbing service around the needs of businesses. The plumbing may be similar, but how we plan and carry out the work is adjusted to minimise disruption to your operations

Renovating or extending a St Peters property often means relocating water, waste and drainage lines to suit the new layout. Our plumbers handle the job from rough-in through to fit-off, making sure the new plumbing works properly with both the existing property and the renovation.

No hot water, inconsistent temperatures or a leaking system can quickly disrupt the household or workplace. We diagnose the fault first and repair it where practical, or recommend and install a suitable replacement when the existing system is no longer worth repairing.

Older pipes, tree roots and built-up debris can quickly turn a slow drain into a full blockage. Our St Peters plumbers use CCTV drain cameras to locate the cause, then clear the line with professional hydro jetting equipment for a more thorough result.
1
Give us a quick rundown of the problem and we’ll organise a suitable time to attend. For urgent issues, a plumber can also give you practical advice over the phone to help limit damage before we arrive.
2
We inspect the plumbing properly and use the right equipment for the job. The aim is to find the source of the problem without unnecessary cutting, digging or disruption.
3
Once we know what needs to be done, we explain the repair and provide clear pricing before starting. If we uncover anything unexpected, we discuss it with you before doing extra work.
4
We use suitable, quality materials and complete the work in line with Australian plumbing requirements.
5
Before we leave, we test the repair, tidy the work area and make sure everything is operating as it should. Any relevant compliance or certification paperwork is also provided where required.
Our Google reviews reflect the friendly service and fair pricing we aim to provide on every job. Our plumbers work well with the St Peters community and always treat your home or property with care and respect.
Yes, a bit. Older cottages in St Peters often still have sections of original clay or earthenware pipe, which crack and collect roots differently to modern PVC. We run a camera through the line first so we know exactly what we’re dealing with before deciding on the right method to clear it.
It can. Large parts of the suburb sit on filled clay pits and reclaimed swampland, and that ground doesn’t always settle evenly. Over time this can put extra stress on pipe joints, which is worth keeping in mind if you’re noticing recurring leaks or drainage issues in an older home.
Yes. We service and repair trade waste systems and backflow containment devices for light industrial and warehouse sites, and we schedule the work around operating hours wherever possible.
As early as possible, ideally alongside your builder or designer at the planning stage. Rerouting drainage and supply lines to suit a bigger footprint is much simpler to plan before the extension is framed up than to fix once walls are closed in.
St Peters sits within the Inner West Council area, not City of Sydney. It’s a small distinction, but it affects which local requirements apply to approvals and inspections.
That’s often a sign of a stressed or partially blocked stormwater and sewer connection, which shows up more in areas with older infrastructure or ground that holds water. It’s worth having it checked rather than ignored, since it can point to a bigger issue underground.

St Peters takes its name from St Peters Anglican Church, consecrated back in 1838. It’s the third-oldest Anglican church in Sydney and is believed to be the first church built in Australia using free rather than convict labour.
2
Through the 1870s and beyond, St Peters was home to sprawling brickworks and clay pits that supplied much of Sydney’s building material. The industry dominated the local landscape until the works finally closed after the Second World War.
3
In 1910, workers unearthed a complete skeleton of Paracyclotosaurus davidi in the St Peters clay pits. It remains the only known specimen of this prehistoric amphibian ever found in Australia.
4
After the brickworks shut down, the site served as a rubbish tip from the 1960s through to the 1980s before being transformed into Sydney Park. Today it features four heritage-listed kiln chimneys and man-made hills with views stretching to Botany Bay.

St Peters is home to just over 3,600 residents packed into under two square kilometres. It’s also notable for having the highest proportion of female same-sex couples of any suburb in Australia.
